Azma Parhin successfully completed three years of psychiatry residency training in the LRH Psychiatry residency program prior to fast tracking to the University of California, Davis Medical Center for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship training. During her residency training Dr. Parhin distinguished herself through multiple intradisciplinary teaching initiatives, research, and scholarly presentations regionally, nationally, and internationally. Her research interests varied from optimizing utility of outpatient mental health services to understanding the impact of social media engagement on the risk for psychiatric hospitalization of children and adolescents. Dr. Parhin received several awards during residency training including the LRH research department’s ‘Researcher of the Year’ award, and the Program Director’s ‘Above and Beyond’ award in recognition of her scholarly endeavors and mentorship of junior residents.

Rachel Sankin successfully completed three years of psychiatry residency training in the LRH Psychiatry residency program prior to fast tracking to the University of Miami for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship training. Dr. Sankin served as one of our program’s inaugural chief residents and during her residency training was recognized for her exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and professionalism with several awards. She was also the recipient of the LRH Psychiatry Resident Researcher of the Year award (2024) in recognition of her nationally presented Dyadic Study Examining the Impact of Inattention and Externalizing Behaviors of ADHD utilizing a large NIMH dataset. Dr. Sankin additionally engaged in research examining residents’ motivations for selecting residency training institutions.
