PGY1 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency Program

At 910 beds, Lakeland Regional Health is among the largest hospitals in Florida with one of the busiest stand-alone Emergency Departments in the nation. As a not‑for‑profit organization committed to innovation, patient safety, and community wellness, LRH provides residents with exposure to diverse patient populations across both inpatient and outpatient settings, creating a strong foundation for advanced clinical practice.

Over the past five years, LRH has undergone significant ambulatory care expansion, with pharmacists offering chronic disease management for anticoagulation, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension, as well as supporting patients through enhanced transitions‑of‑care services. This growth reflects the system’s commitment to improving chronic disease outcomes, reducing hospital utilization, and expanding access to high‑quality outpatient care across the community.

Residents benefit from a balanced mix of inpatient and outpatient learning experiences, including Ambulatory Care, Emergency Medicine, Infection Diseases, Internal Medicine, and Transitions of Care, supported by a strong culture of mentorship and interdisciplinary collaboration.
